What you'll build
- Warm up your stage voice and deliver Tamil retroflex sounds (ழ/ள/ண; the vaḻi/vali/vaḷi contrast) and long vowels clearly under pressure.
- Carry 12+ Tamil proverbs (paḻamoḻi), Tirukkuṛaḷ couplets and Avvaiyar lines, and place them naturally in a talk using the 'rule of one'.
- Read and use everyday Tamil idioms and imagery (marabut-toḍar) to make a point land.
- Structure a told story with a hook, arc, turn and close using natural spoken connectors (oru ūrla, appaṟam, āṉā, kaḍaisiyā).
- Argue a position for or against with claim -> reason -> example, in both polite-spoken and formal debate register.
- Anchor / compère an event — welcome, introduce speakers, transition and give a vote of thanks — in ceremonial formal Tamil.
- Speak impromptu for a minute using the P-R-E-P framework (Point, Reason, Example, Point).
- Switch deliberately between spoken (pēccu vaḻakku) and formal/written (sendamiḻ) register, and fix common register/agreement mistakes (nī vs nīnga, spoken vs written verb endings, gender/number agreement).
- Perform a 2-3 minute recorded stage piece and self-assess it against a clear five-point rubric.
- Know where to go next for recognized Tamil study (Tamil Virtual Academy, Bharatavani) — practice evidence here, papers there.
