What you'll build

• Read and decode everyday Kannada text — signboards, notices, menus, news headlines and WhatsApp messages — in the script, without transliteration crutches.
• Recognise and use all seven vibhakti (case) endings, including the oblique stems (-ನ-, -ಇನ-, -ಯ-) that make case forms look different from the dictionary word.
• Use the Kannada dative-subject construction correctly ('nanage bēku', 'nanage gottilla') instead of the English-style nominative that trips up most learners.
• Conjugate verbs across present and past with correct person, gender and number agreement, including the irregular neuter past.
• Handle negation, ability, permission and necessity (illa, bēḍa, bahudu, bēku) in both reading and writing.
• Explain and apply the three native sandhi types (lōpa, āgama, ādēśa) to split and read merged and compound words.
• Read and trace complex conjuncts (ottakṣara) such as kṣa, jña, tra, pra and śrī, and decode English, Urdu and Sanskrit loanword spellings.
• Tell the spoken/chat register apart from the written register and read both confidently.
• Type Kannada on your own phone using phonetic (transliteration) input, and read/write short everyday messages.
• Self-correct the most common learner mistakes in case marking, verb agreement and formal/informal address.
