What you'll build

  • Explain AWS Regions, Availability Zones, and edge locations, and choose a Region for latency, residency, and cost
  • Apply the IAM model (users, groups, roles, policies) and the evaluation rules, including explicit-deny-wins and least privilege
  • Write and debug IAM policy JSON - actions, resources, wildcards, and conditions (Bool, IpAddress, StringEquals)
  • Construct correct AWS CLI commands for IAM, EC2, and S3 operations
  • Right-size an EC2 fleet and compare On-Demand, Reserved, and Spot costs with capacity math
  • Select the right S3 storage class and estimate storage, retrieval, and request costs
  • Design VPC networking with public/private subnets, NAT, and the Security Group vs NACL distinction, including CIDR/subnet math
  • Choose between RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and Redshift for a given workload
  • Reason about serverless (Lambda GB-seconds, concurrency) and decoupling with SQS
  • Diagnose common AWS errors (AccessDenied, throttling, NoSuchBucket) and design a resilient, graded 3-tier architecture
